Motorsport is dangerous but we are focused on making it as safe as possible.  Clay Pigeon Raceway has an excellent safety record and you should expect the same standards as you will get at any professionally organised kart racing event.

Driver Competence

You are not required to hold a racing license in order to enter the series but you are expected to be a competent racing driver.  Put simply, incompetence behind the wheel of your kart will not be tolerated and any driver that is not able to drive at an acceptable standard will be prevented from further participation.  It is essential that all drivers are fully conversant with the flag signals, which are described within the Regulations.

Please take advantage of our FREE* 20 minute driver competency check, available at the circuit on Friday or Saturday practice days.  Advance booking is essential, please call 01935 83713.  This is not compulsory but strongly advised.  Be in no doubt, there is a big difference between arrive and drive corporate driving and racing your own kart.

You don’t need to be a budding Formula 1 superstar to race at Clay Pigeon IKR.  Drivers of all abilities are welcome and the minimum driving standards are purely designed to ensure your safety and that of your fellow competitors.

Kart Maintenance

Our chassis rules are fairly open but it is imperative that your kart is well maintained and safe for racing.  At the beginning of each meeting your kart and safety equipment will be subject to safety scrutineering and any equipment deemed unsafe will be prevented from being used in the racing.  Please get in touch if you have any questions on acceptable standards.

*Practice fees may apply if you require more track time.
